Que Isso Fique Entre Nós — loosely translated as May This Stay Between Us — feels like a breath of fresh air in an entertainment industry that keeps eliminating opportunities for non-white talent and making room only for specific LGBTQ+ projects based on factors like casting, awards potential, and broad appeal.
For Black queer characters, and Black queer couples specifically, things have gotten even harder over time.
The brutal erasure of Black queer stories.
A recent GLAAD study found only 85 Black characters among the 489 LGBTQ+ characters tracked during that TV season. The report also found that only nine of the 64 LGBTQ+ characters on primetime scripted cable that year were Black.
Que Isso Fique Entre Nós challenges anti-DEI political agendas that have affected many parts of the world, not just the U.S. The new Brazilian series, written and directed by Leandro dos Santos, was filmed in Salvador, Bahia, features a predominantly Black cast, and has two Black queer men as the romantic leads.
A complicated, audacious, irresistible story.
From drama and conflict to intentional steamy scenes that look passionate and gorgeous, Que Isso Fique Entre Nós is a captivating, much-needed project coming soon to YouTube… and it might become our next obsession.
“Certain things only exist as long as no one else finds out about them,” the series description reads. “Five episodes exploring ethical boundaries, desire, and sexuality. A web series from Bahia centered on Black and LGBTQIA+ perspectives.”
You’re probably thinking, Okay, but what does Beyoncé have to do with this show? Well, let’s get into it.
Beyoncé of it all.
Filmmaker Leandro dos Santos launched his new independent production company, Lemoncito Filmes, on April 23, 2026. In the announcement, Dos Santos outlined the studio’s core values and referenced Beyoncé as his main inspiration.
“Right on the 10th anniversary of the album that reshaped the career of our pop queen, Beyoncé, we’re launching our brand!” The Instagram post, shared on April 23, 2026, reads. “Its identity is rooted in the Lemonade concept — revolutionizing and entertaining while always paying homage to those who paved the way before us. It is through honoring this inspiring legacy that Lemoncito introduces itself.”
(Indeed, Lemonade was released on April 23, 2016. Are you feeling old yet?)
Que Isso Fique Entre Nós: Queer storyline and characters, explained.

Que Isso Fique Entre Nós follows college student Renan and law professor Mauro as they discover an irresistible sexual attraction between them.
Considering their professor-student dynamic, giving in to those urges isn’t exactly ethical. Mauro’s reluctance is also justified by potential consequences to his personal life.
Editor’s note: Mild spoilers below as we introduce these characters and the actors who play them.
Irio Alves plays Renan.

Irio Alves plays Renan, a university student still navigating the end of his previous relationship. Then he meets Mauro, a new professor of Professional Responsibility (legal ethics), and sparks fly between them right away.
It doesn’t take long for Renan’s yearning and discreet glances to turn into a secret affair with Mauro.
Things get even more complicated when Renan considers an actual relationship with Mauro. Let’s just say they are not on the same page about that.
As a model and actor, Alves starred in short films like A Falta Que Faz, A Última Linha, and Menina. He also acted in a theatrical production of Caymmi & O Mar. You can follow Irio Alves on Instagram at @irioraro.
Amós Heber plays Mauro.
Played by Amós Heber, Mauro is a law school professor who gets caught off guard by his attraction to Renan.
Mauro worries about Renan being a literal student in one of his classes, the age gap between them, and how this affair could destroy the family and career he’s built.
Rumors that something is going on between them start to spread, prompting Mauro to end things with Renan. The student, who was already dealing with unresolved issues from his past relationship, is then forced to navigate yet another rejection.
Leading up to this series, Heber was best known for starring in the Netflix original film The Son of a Thousand Men. You can follow Amós Heber on Instagram at @amosheber.

The queer legacy that brought Que Isso Fique Entre Nós to life.
Produced by Lemoncito Filmes, Que Isso Fique Entre Nós was co-produced by Mirala Produções and Blackrec Filmes. The project was made possible through funding by the Lei Paulo Gustavo in Bahia, with support from the Bahia State Secretariat of Culture, the Ministry of Culture, and the Federal Government.
The referenced law was named after one of Brazil’s most beloved comedians of all time, Paulo Gustavo, who was also a queer man. Gustavo tragically died of COVID-19 in 2021, as then-president Jair Bolsonaro insisted that vaccinations weren’t necessary.
Gustavo’s sudden passing rocked the entire country, so it’s lovely to see a law named after him supporting LGBTQ+ projects that honor his legacy of political resistance through storytelling and art.
